Safety and security

Creating a safe and secure society with chemical system engineering

Safety and security is a basic human need. While everyone considers the importance of ensuring safety, diverse factors intricately arise to cause accidents in a variety of fields. If we treat accidents and disasters as merely a mishap, there is no way to prevent them. Production sites and research and development sites can be considered as one large complicated system where multiple scenarios coexist. It is possible to implement effective accident prevention or control measures by scientifically investigating elemental hazard phenomena and by analyzing phenomena systematically. This is what we call a chemical system engineering approach.

What broad perspectives can generate

The chemical system engineering approach can not only prevent accidents and disasters, and mitigation of damage, but also extends its potential to guarantee and improve the quality of medical care and developing medical devices. Chemical system engineering is a discipline that carries out extensive perspective and in-depth research connecting molecules to macroscopic phenomena. Research related to the development of medical devices such as new biomaterials, has been conducted within the department. Research in chemical system engineering contributes to building a safe and secure society in various situations.
